Disaster Risk Management & Humanitarian Action
Reducing disaster risks and strengthening community resilience through preparedness, early warning, and humanitarian assistance.
The Reality of Disaster Vulnerability
Many communities in Bangladesh face increasing risks from natural disasters and climate-related hazards.
Coastal communities regularly face cyclones, storm surges, and flooding that threaten lives and homes.
Rural communities often lack access to early warning systems and disaster preparedness resources.
Natural disasters destroy homes, crops, and local infrastructure.
Women, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities are most vulnerable during disasters.
Limited local response capacity delays emergency relief and recovery.
Climate change is increasing the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events.
